Oman TRA Consultation on Terrestrial 5G mmWave Spectrum

GSOA encourages the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the Sultanate of Oman to keep pace with the rapid development in the telecommunications sector, and encourages the TRA to study the correct licensing mechanisms for mmWave bands given the importance of these frequency bands in supporting the telecommunications sector and the national economy of Oman. We also supports the TRA’s cautious approach in selecting mmWave spectrum for terrestrial 5G systems, especially given the “lukewarm” interest that local stakeholders have shown in mmWave bands for 5G.
