ESOA participates in space forum – ICT spring 2017
ESOA called for a collaborative approach to achieve the 5G “network of networks”, proffering the need for satellites to ensure inclusion, resilience and quality.
Highlighting the fact that satellite operators drive growth and innovation primarily through private investment, she questioned the future success of 5G if it can only be realised with significant public investment and if it is not inclusive, both in terms of technology and the citizens it will be able to serve.
“It is clear that satellites have a right to win and this is a sector that is playing on all fronts. With GEO, MEO and now LEO systems emerging, and the cost per bit falling dramatically, satellite will contribute to the success of multiple 5G use cases.” Aarti Holla said.
