Major trends are transforming the satellite industry, incl. the shift from hardware to software, the evolution of spacecraft itself and the diversification of orbits. LEO and MEO  constellations are operated commercially, some working jointly with GEO (e.g. GEO+MEO or GEO+LEO hybrid platforms).
