Questionnaire on Role of RSP to Help Combat Climate Change

ESOA wish to thank the RSPG for inviting us to participate in this consultation and welcome the opportunity to be able to respond. These questions come at an important time as, as the world begins to consider its response to Covid, we all have the chance to conduct business in a more environmentally friendly way.

The impact of the satellite communications sector on the environment is something that we have long sought to minimise. From solar powered satellites to using electrolysis of water to generate chemicals for rocket fuel, we are constantly striving to further minimise the carbon footprint of our sector. We would like to highlight a number of ways in which satellite services play an important role in mitigating the impact of climate change. Some examples are given below – without satellite spectrum they would not be possible.
